Class of 1991 Gift Planning Reunion Co-Chair Amy Fuchs ’91: “Why I Give”
I arrived at Duke University in 1987 with my field hockey stick in hand, ready to fulfill my college dream. I started all four years on the Duke Field Hockey team, proudly representing my university on and off the field and loving every minute of it.
I attended Duke on an athletic scholarship, and my Duke experience continues to have a profound impact on my life—from the camaraderie of my teammates, to the guidance from my coaches and professors, to the exceptional education. It was an opportunity for which I am forever grateful.
In appreciation for my Duke education and memories, I created an estate plan that includes a gift to establish a scholarship for students in the field hockey program. This gift will allow qualified students the same opportunity that I was afforded: to receive a world-class education and to pursue their athletic goals.
It is beyond fulfilling to know that my support of these student-athletes will continue to propel the athletic program forward. Not only will it help to recruit and retain the best and brightest students-athletes, but also my hope is that this support will provide talented and proactive young women the opportunity to make an impact in their communities and beyond.
Duke has been very good to me over the last 25 years and has opened up many doors to meet many incredible people. I want to inspire my teammates to follow me on this path.
This coming Duke Reunions 2016 weekend, April 15-17, I invite you to join your fellow alums and me to celebrate our 25th reunion. My gift counts toward our Class of 1991 class total, and I invite you to make a gift to a program, school, or place you are passionate about as well. Your gift can also provide support for your own personal future goals.
You can also consider sharing your time and talents to show your support for Duke. Volunteer in your local Duke community or serve as a reunion co-chair for your next reunion.
